What Are The Benefits Of The Express Water Alkaline Reverse Osmosis Filtration System?

Installation Is Very Easy

The Express Water Alkaline Reverse Osmosis Filtration System is very very easy to install and you can get through it very quickly without the need for a plumber. It has a great feature where all of the pieces and the components have been color-coded so you can make sure you get it right. This product is compatible with 3/8″ and 1/2″ under sink connections and comes with an included filter housing wrench. It also operates on 40-80 PSI water pressure. You will also receive quick-connect adapters.

Wastewater Production Is Low

Reverse osmosis water filters often produce a significant amount of wastewater, some even producing up to ten gallons of water per one gallon of purified water, although that is mostly reserved for the larger systems. This product, however, only wastes two gallons for every one gallon of pure water, which is low for the type of system that it is.

It Removes Several Contaminants

Express Water - ROALK5D Reverse Osmosis Alkaline Water Filtration System

This reverse osmosis water filter can remove up to 99.99% of lead, chlorine, fluoride, nitrates, calcium, arsenic, bacteria, cyanide, giardia, radium, asbestos, calcite, heavy metal, viruses, pharmaceuticals, and other major contaminants. This system also boasts an alkaline water filter that adds calcium, potassium, magnesium, and other minerals to your water, making it alkaline.

It Is A 10-Stage Filtration System

This reverse osmosis water filtration system has a whopping 10 stages of filtration. The first five steps of filtration are actually the same as any other reverse osmosis system and the rest are remineralization stages. Usually, other manufacturers will list the remineralization stage as a singular stage. Express water does not, which is why they list a lot more filtration stages than others. They feature one membrane, three carbon filters (with carbon block technology), and a polishing filter. The steps of this 10-stage reverse osmosis system filtration process are:

  • First stage: sediment filter that removes dirt, rust, sand, dirt, debris, and more
  • Second stage: this stage removes organic compounds, odor, and chlorine
  • Third stage: this stage removes any remaining odor and taste, in addition to volatile organic compounds and common chemicals
  • Fourth stage: the reverse osmosis membranes will catch tiny particles, bacteria, and chemicals
  • Fifth stage: this stage focuses on making the water more alkaline for better taste
  • Last stages: this stage is separated into four small steps, but the purpose of this stage is to remineralize the water

It Produces Alkaline Water

As we have talked about already, alkaline water can have some great health benefits and it might be something you would prefer to have in your home. This product’s alkaline stage is 5 stages long so you can make sure you are getting what you paid for.

It Has A One-Year Warranty

All Express Water Reverse Osmosis Water Systems products are equipped with a one-year warranty in case something goes wrong.

Excellent Performance

This RO system is an under sink product, so you will be able to save space with this system. It also comes with leak detection, an emergency leak stop detector that shuts off the water flow when it detects unwelcomed moisture. You are able to upgrade and customize this product and you can also add a UV water filter, a deionization water filter, and more.

It also includes a fast flow faucet with a flow rate of 0.8 GPM. You only need to change your filter cartridges every six months as well, which is a fantastic filter replacement time. It was also found by an independent laboratory to be NSF certified to standard 58. You can use this product for a house, an apartment, residential, well water, industrial, RV, machine, and office uses. You can find this product on Amazon.

It Can Be Mounted Easily

What Is An Alkaline Machine (Water Ionizer) And How Does It Work?

You have probably run into someone in your life who has touted the benefits of drinking alkaline water. One way that you can get alkaline water is by using a water ionizer or an alkaline machine (two names for the same type of product). An alkaline machine is a device you can purchase for your home that will raise the pH of your drinking water by the method of electrolysis.

Electrolysis essentially separates your incoming water into either acidic or alkaline components and gives you the alkaline one. But why would you even want to have alkaline water? What kind of thing is it? What are the pros and cons of something like this? All great questions. Let’s start with the basics:

Alkaline water really only refers to water that has a higher pH than normal. Regular water usually has a neutral pH of 7, while alkaline water usually stands at a pH of 8 or 9. If you remember from school, the pH scale goes from a pH of 0, which is the most acidic, to a pH of 14, which is the most alkaline. People who advocate for drinking alkaline water say that by it having a higher pH, it can neutralize the acid in your body.

There are also some components other than pH that make alkaline water alkaline. It must also contain alkaline minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, bicarbonate, and silica and it must also contain negative oxidation-reduction potential (often shortened as ORP). Oxidation-reduction potential refers to the ability of the water to be either pro-oxidant or antioxidant. When the ORP is negative (and the more negative it gets), then your water has more antioxidizing abilities.

Alkaline water enthusiasts claim that its increased hydrogen provides greater hydration than regular water.

There are also some other benefits of alkaline water. Here are some of them:

  • Anti-aging properties (via liquid antioxidants that absorb more quickly into the human body)
  • Colon-cleansing properties
  • Immune system support
  • Hydration
  • Skin health
  • Weight loss
  • Cancer resistance
  • Helps with high blood pressure
  • Helps with diabetes
  • Helps with high cholesterol

Additionally, naturally carbonated artesian-well alkaline water with a pH of 8.8 may also help deactivate pepsin, the main enzyme that causes acid reflux. Of course, there are always negative side effects of drinking alkaline water. Alkaline water can lower your natural stomach acidity. This helps kill bacteria and throw away other undesirable pathogens from entering your bloodstream, and slowing this process can be harmful to you.

It can also cause some gastrointestinal issues as well as skin irritations. There is also the possibility of developing metabolic alkalosis, which causes a decrease in free calcium in your body, leading to issues with bone health. If you diagnosed with this condition, you could be drinking too much alkaline water, or you could be having an underactive parathyroid gland. Here are the symptoms to watch out for:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Hand tremors
  • Muscle twitching
  • Tingling in the extremities or face
  • Confusion

It is important to reiterate that there are few studies done on the effectiveness and dangers of alkaline water, so a lot of the claims made by some websites can sometimes read as unsubstantiated. The consensus at the moment seems to be that drinking a regular amount of alkaline water will not harm you and can bring you some health benefits, but if you are not a full believer in alkaline water, there is no real need for you to invest in an alkaline machine (or a water ionizer). It is proven, however, that regardless of your stance on filtered water, there are legitimate health benefits to having a water filter. So let’s move onto the next section of this article.

What Is A Reverse Osmosis Water Filter And How Does It Work?

Express Water - ROALK5D Reverse Osmosis Alkaline Water Filtration System

Reverse osmosis water filters are some of the most popular types of filters on the market. They are reliable, they are easy to use and maintain, and they can be very budget-friendly. The process through which they filter your water is also very straightforward and easy to understand.

In order to understand reverse osmosis, we should probably brush up on the concept of osmosis. Osmosis is the process through which a weaker saline solution travels to a strong saline solution. It is a naturally occurring phenomenon and a very important one in nature. Reverse osmosis, also known as RO, is a process through which a stronger saline solution travels to a weaker saline solution by pushing it under pressure through a semi-permeable reverse osmosis membrane (RO membrane). This semi-permeable membrane (RO filter) has tiny holes that allow some molecules to get through while blocking others.

It can be a very important step for your home to get a water filter, especially a reverse osmosis one. They can take care of harmful contaminants, allowing you to have clean water, better tasting, better smelling water. Here are some of the contaminants water filters can remove:

  • Chloramines
  • Fluoride
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
  • Iron
  • Sulfur
  • E. coli Bacteria
  • Coliform Bacteria
  • Nitrates
  • Lead
  • Arsenic
  • Radium
  • Radon
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Herbicides
  • Pesticides
  • Chemicals
  • Fecal Matter
  • Microbial Pathogens
  • Parasites
  • Viruses
  • Petrochemicals
  • Sand
  • Silt
  • Sediment
  • Chlorine

Drinking contaminated water can be a very big issue for you. Your propensity for having an actually terrible consequence from this depends on how old you are, how healthy you are, and what physical condition you are in. Regardless, it is important to know how much drinking contaminated water can harm you, so here is a list of some of the issues you can get:

  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Intestinal or stomach cramping
  • Intestinal or stomach aches and pains
  • Dehydration
  • Death

You will also save money on water bottles if you get a water filter. Especially if you have a large family, buying bottled water for all the members of your household can get fairly expensive. For the average family that gets through 2 to 3 bottles of water a day, annual costs can easily exceed 500 dollars. You can go ahead and just preserve that money by getting filtered water.

Another added benefit of getting a water filter and not buying water bottles all of the time is that you get to help preserve our environment. We have all heard the news of how plastic is affecting the environment and how we must do something about it. So if you are worried about the environment, and want to do your part wherever you can, then you can really make a difference by getting one of these kinds of products.

You will also be able to reduce any potential plumbing issues, which will save you both money and time. Minerals, heavy metals, and chemicals in your water can cause corrosion and damage to your pipes and all your water-using appliances. As yet another added benefit, if you have sensitive skin (if you experience skin irritations) or you have a condition such as eczema or psoriasis, long exposure to harmful chemicals can hurt you and worsen these conditions.

You will also save on soap since your water can contain certain minerals that lower your soap’s effectiveness. It also will mean that your clothes will be cleaner since your washing machine will work and clean more effectively. Limescale (that white, chalky buildup at the bottom of your water kettle) and other types of mineral deposits will also be reduced.

The Water Quality Association has even more information on the subject if you would like to do further reading. Tap water, regardless of your water supply, is bound to have impurities. A purifier machine of this sort will improve your water quality as well as your water tastes. It is most definitely a good purchase whether you live in a place with good clear mountain water or in a place that has a water quality crisis, such as in Flint, Michigan.
