What Is The Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian?

When you are choosing the perfect water filter, the most important thing is to understand which contaminants are in your water and which are most important to filter out. It is also important to select by system type and size, the water capacity, the flow rate, the filters, and the costs (of both the product and the maintenance). Generally, these are the most dangerous contaminants that are found in your water:

  • Sediment
  • Microscopic pathogens
  • Heavy metals including lead, arsenic, and cadmium
  • Industrial solvents, VOCs and chromium-6
  • Pesticides, herbicides, and nitrates from fertilizer

If you have a well, then you are even more at risk for water contaminants as well as other impurities such as iron. Thankfully, this filter can take care of that. Home Master is a fairly well-known brand, with several high-quality products to show for it. The Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian is a special kind of product with a permeate pump that works for your water supply, regardless of whether it is municipal water or well water.

This under-sink reverse osmosis system is able to remove iron, which is a contaminant often present in well water, through its integrated iron filter. It also features a UV light that takes care of 99.9 percent of dangerous microorganisms. This is a reliable, sturdy product that can last you for a very long time. You can find this product on Amazon.

What Are The Benefits Of The Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian?

Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian Full Contact Undersink Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System

There are several reasons to love the Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian, all of which are listed below. It is a seven-stage reverse osmosis water filter system that features an iron filter as well as a UV light which means that it can take care of 99.9 percent of all contaminants.

This product’s micron rating (which means how big or small the pores are in the semi-permeable membrane and helps you get a sense of the product’s filtering power) stands at 0.001, which is incredibly small. That means that this RO system can get rid of even the smallest kinds of contaminants. It features a fast flow rate, which as mentioned above can often be a concern with under sink water filters, and a five-year warranty from the manufacturer.

  • It features a UV light for eliminating microorganisms
  • It can remove 99.9 percent of biological contaminants
  • You can handle filter and filter housing together making maintenance easier
  • The iron filter protects the RO membrane and reduces iron staining

You will only need to replace the filters in this product once a year, or after 3000 gallons of water. It even comes with instruction videos if you are more of a visual person and need the extra help.

This water filter is made in the United States and is certified by both WQA (Water Quality Association) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration). This product also remineralizes your water, which is the process of throwing beneficial minerals such as calcium and magnesium back into your drinking water. Remineralization makes for both healthier and better-tasting drinking water. It does this process twice to make sure that you absolutely get all of their benefits of artesian water. It also makes your water alkaline.

There is only one issue with this system. As it often happens with products that feature UV light to neutralize harmful microorganisms, there is no off switch for it. This means that if for any reason you would like to not have this feature in your product, you will not be able to turn it off.

At the same time, it also does not have a battery backup, so once the battery on the UV light runs out (which the manufacturer claims would take about one year) you will have to replace it completely. All in all, these are in no way, shape, or form issues that should stop you from getting this incredibly powerful, incredibly reliable product that will make sure to improve the quality of the drinking water for you and your family.

What Is A Reverse Osmosis Water Filter?

The process through which reverse osmosis water filters remove contaminants from your water is quite simple and easy to understand. If you remember from your middle school days, osmosis is the process through which a weaker saline solution will tend to migrate to a strong saline solution. This kind of process is how plants absorb water through their roots and how our kidneys absorb water from our blood.

Perhaps you remember doing this experiment in school where you had one container of water with low salt concentration and another with high salt concentration with a semi-permeable membrane in between, and you saw the low salt solution start to migrate to the high salt solution until the salt concentration in both containers evened out.

The way this process is used in a water filter is by having a semipermeable membrane that allows certain molecules to pass through and not others. Think of it as a very tiny, very thin net with holes of a certain size that only allow for molecules of that certain size or smaller to pass through, the way a screen door allows air to pass through but nothing else.

Since a lot of tap water contaminants are larger in size than water, many of these are unable to pass through in a reverse osmosis system. The reason it is called reverse osmosis is that this time, the stronger solution is traveling through to the weaker solution, and not the other way around.

Since we are doing this kind of process in reverse, this type of water filter system does require energy, so it can push the water through the semi-permeable layer and properly filter it. However, once this purification process is completed, you will have some of the cleanest, most contaminant-free water. Here are some other types of water filtration processes that you might also want to look at:

Activated Alumina Filter:

  • It is one of the only filters that effectively removes fluoride
  • It is inexpensive and effective
  • It can leak a small amount of aluminum

Ceramic Filter:

  • It is a natural method
  • They can filter through bacteria and protozoans effectively
  • They are not as effective at removing viruses
  • There can be an increase in bacterial contamination with poor-quality filters

Water Distillation:

  • It is highly effective
  • It can also improve the smell and taste of the water.
  • It is a slow process

Ultraviolet Water Purifying System:

  • It kills bacteria, parasites, and viruses
  • It does not remove contaminants like minerals or lead

Activated Carbon Filter:

  • It removes contaminants, bad odor, and taste
  • It does not require electricity
  • It does not eliminate minerals or salts

Granulated Carbon Filter:

  • It is inexpensive
  • It is less effective
  • Water pressure has a significant influence on its effectiveness

Ion Exchange Filter:

  • It can soften hard water
  • It does not require electricity
  • It requires regular maintenance

What Is An Under Sink Water Filter?

As the name suggests, an under-sink water filter is installed underneath your sink and it filters the water that comes out of your kitchen faucet. This means that you will have clean water for drinking as well as for cooking. This kind of filter is quite popular since it is fairly easy to install and can be moved at will.

There are several advantages. First, they are hidden away under your sink, meaning that you will not have to see it, it will not mess with the decor of your kitchen, and it will save you space on your counter. Especially if your home has a small kitchen, this kind of water filter can be more than ideal. They also often have a faster water flow rate, since most are directly connected to your sink’s water line and filter your water on demand.

Under sink water filters are also known for having an extremely reliable performance. This will obviously depend on the one that you end up choosing, but generally, they have the highest performance level on the market. There are also certain disadvantages to these kinds of water filtration systems.

Most under sink water filters come with their own special faucet that you have to install, so if you are the kind of person that is not very handy when it comes to DIY home improvement projects, you might have to ask for a professional plumber to come to your home and do it for you.

Not only will this add to your overall price tag, but generally, under-sink water filters are some of the priciest on the market, mostly due to their high performance level. Thankfully, however, the quality-to-price ratio is often quite balanced. There are also other types of water filter systems (or products) which you can take a look at over here:

Water Pitcher Filter:

  • They are a widespread and affordable solution
  • They are free-standing
  • They improve the taste and odor of water
  • They have a short shelf life and need to be replaced regularly

Faucet Water Filter:

  • They attach easily to any faucet
  • They are inexpensive
  • They filter water right at the tap
  • They slow the water flow

Whole House Water Filters:

  • They treat all water in the house
  • They can remove volatile organic compounds
  • They require professional maintenance

Countertop Water Filters:

  • It can switch easily between filtered and unfiltered water
  • It can have its own spout
  • It requires installation
  • It can require a decent amount of space

Refrigerator Water Filters:

  • It removes bad odors and tastes
  • It eliminates contaminants
  • It needs to be replaced regularly

Portable Water Filters:

  • It has a small design for camping and hiking
  • It removes microorganisms
  • It only filters limited amounts at a time

If you are satisfied with both the type of filtration and the type of water filter system, then we can finally move on to the actual product review of the Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian.
