How Do You Install The Home Master TMP HydroPerfection RO?

If you feel satisfied with this product review and feel that you might want to buy this Home Master product, then it is also important to know how to install it. As mentioned above, you should be able to install this product yourself if you have the proper tools, the time, and the will.

The Home Master TMP HydroPerfection RO comes with an instructions manual, and there are also instructional videos on their website for you to follow if you are more of a visual learner. If you decide that you would rather leave this process to a professional, you can skip this section. If you would like to give it a shot, here are the steps you need to take to get your water filter up and running:

  1. Use an existing hole, or drill a 1/2” hole in the sink top.
  2. Slide the small rubber washer onto the faucet shank, then metal escutcheon plate.
  3. Slide the rubber washer onto the faucet shank.
  4. Insert the shank through the hole in the sink.
  5. Slide the locating washer, followed by locking the washer onto the shank under the sink.
  6. Thread either the lock nut or wingnut hand fastener onto the shank, position the faucet and tighten.
  7. Wrap the threaded shank with Teflon tape 1-2 times. DO NOT tape to the end. Leave the final thread exposed for easier fitment.
  8. Hand tighten the 3/8” RO faucet adapter. Avoid the cross-threading faucet adapter, by first rotating the adapter counterclockwise until it seats, then finger tighten. Note: The RO is a non-air gap faucet . If an air gap faucet is required for your installation, one can be provided to you at no charge upon request with an alternate drain saddle and tubing.
  9. Install the EZ adapter on the cold water line. Always wear protective eyewear.
  10. Install the drain saddle clamp
  11. Mount the Home Master® RO – Identify the location for installing the mounting clip to hang the Home Master® RO filter cluster.
  12. Mounting Permeate Pump (optional) – Mount the permeate pump side by side with the Home Master® RO using the supplied mounting clip and screws.
  13. Install the refrigerator kit (optional).
  14. Affix the product label found in the parts bag to the top of the reserve tank.
  15. Install the reserve tank.

How Do You Change The Filters In The Home Master TMP HydroPerfection RO?

It is also important to know how to change the filters when they reach the end of their lifespan. This is a much easier process than installing the product, so you will definitely be able to do it yourself. All you will need are scissors, paper towels, and a tube cutter. Here is how you change the filters on the Home Master TMP HydroPerfection RO:

  1. Clear away a workspace under the sink near the location of the Home Master RO System.
  2. Close the water valve feeding the Home Master RO.
  3. Close the reserve tank valve located on top of the reserve tank. When closed the blue handle will be perpendicular to the waterline.
  4. Depressurize the system.
  5. Slowly and gently pull the Home Master RO off of its mounting clips from the bottom up.
  6. To remove the tubing from the filter – push down the collet ring to the filter body with the thumb and forefinger while simultaneously pulling on the tubing.
  7. Insert the tube end about a ¼” into the replacement filter fitting then pull back gently to ensure a snug fit. Repeat step 6 for the other end of the filter.
  8. Remount the Home Master RO.
  9. SLOWLY open the main water line to the Home Master RO.
  10. After the trickle runs clear, close the lever on the RO faucet and allow the system to pressurize. When the system has pressurized fully it will shut off automatically, usually in a few minutes. Dry unit thoroughly again and check for leaks.
  11. When the tank has filled completely, and the system shuts-off automatically, then close the feed valve and open the RO faucet to allow the water to drain out until it comes to a complete stop.

How Do You Take Care Of The Home Master TMP HydroPerfection RO?

While changing the filters is the most important step in water filter maintenance, you will also need to clean it every now and then to make sure you can expand its lifespan. This is how you do cleaning and maintenance in the Home Master TMP HydroPerfection RO:

  1. Drain: First, the water needs draining from the filtration system and tank. Close the faucet attached to the system, too.
  2. Detach: Remove both the pre-filter and reverse osmosis membrane from the system. You might need a wrench to open its casing.
  3. Clean: Use chemical cleaners to sanitize your system. Your manufacturer should have a recommendation of which one to use. If you don’t know which to get, you can use two or three tablespoons of unscented bleach instead.
  4. Remove build-up: You can do this by adding your cleaning solution directly to your pre-filter housing. You then fully open the bypass faucet and let the water run freely to rinse.
  5. Wash the membrane: Wash or wipe your membrane with the solution, too. If you prefer, you can use dishwashing liquid for this instead. Take care to rinse it off well to remove traces of the chemical product.
  6. Reassemble: Once everything has been cleaned and rinsed, you can reassemble and restart your system.

What Is A Reverse Osmosis Water Filter?

A reverse osmosis water filter is one of the most popular kinds of water filters. Reverse osmosis refers to the movement of the water from a more concentrated solution to a less concentrated solution. Traditional RO systems work by pushing the contaminated water through a semipermeable membrane with tiny holes that allow for water molecules to pass through but not harmful particles.

Some will have smaller openings than others, and you should be familiar with your water’s contamination status so you can better choose which reverse osmosis water filter would suit you best. You can do this by calling your local water authority or purchasing a home testing kit. Other examples of water filtration systems include:

The Activated Alumina Filter

  • It is one of the only filters that effectively removes fluoride
  • It is inexpensive and effective
  • It can leak a small amount of aluminum

The Ceramic Filter

  • It is a natural method
  • They can filter through bacteria and protozoans effectively
  • They are not as effective at removing viruses
  • There can be an increase in bacterial contamination with poor-quality filters

Water Distillation

  • It is highly effective
  • It can also improve the smell and taste of the water.
  • It is a slow process

The Ultraviolet Water Purifying System

  • It kills bacteria, parasites, and viruses
  • It does not remove contaminants like minerals or lead

The Activated Carbon Filter

  • It removes contaminants, bad odor, and taste
  • It does not require electricity
  • It does not eliminate minerals or salts

The Granulated Carbon Filter

  • It is inexpensive
  • It is less effective
  • Water pressure has a significant influence on its effectiveness

The Ion Exchange Filter

  • It can soften hard water
  • It does not require electricity
  • It requires regular maintenance

What Is An Under Sink Water Filter?

Under sink water filters differ from other kinds of water filters because they are installed (as the name suggests) directly under your sink and attached directly to your feed water. This means you will have pure water for cooking and drinking, as well as cleaning your dishes. They are often fairly easy to install and move in the case that you are moving houses. Their only downside is that they are usually a bit pricier than other kinds of water solutions. Other types of water filters include:

The Water Pitcher Filter

  • They are a widespread and affordable solution
  • They are free-standing
  • They improve the taste and odor of water
  • They have a short shelf life and need to be replaced regularly

The Faucet Water Filter

  • They attach easily to any faucet
  • They are inexpensive
  • They filter water right at the tap
  • They slow the water flow

Whole House Water Filters

  • They treat all water in the house
  • They can remove volatile organic compounds
